Elderly and Differently Abled Guidance in Madurai

In Madurai, senior citizens and individuals with disabilities increasingly rely on external support in both urban and rural areas. Demographic shifts, such as the rise of nuclear families and youth migration, contribute to growing social isolation among the elderly and disabled, many of whom live alone, leading to loneliness and anxiety. Infrastructure barriers, including the absence of wheelchair-accessible public transport, civic buildings, and recreational spaces, further hinder their integration into community life. Vision Trust promotes inclusion by organizing social companionship, offering professional counseling, and advocating for disability-friendly workplaces and accessible public infrastructure throughout Madurai. The district's rural zones face limited access to specialized geriatric and rehabilitative care. To address this, Vision Trust provides healthcare, palliative and physical rehab services, and assistive devices. Additionally, many low-income seniors lack pension coverage or stable income, while employment prospects for differently abled youth are scarce. Vision Trust tackles these issues through skill development programs and government schemes, ensuring that both elderly and disabled populations can live with dignity and independence.
